IGA Hometown Healthy Challenge Prize Winner - Keith Waters
Keith Waters, a Honey’s IGA shopper and Newton, N.C., resident, designated the Center United Methodist Church Walking Trail Fund as the beneficiary of the $5,000 donation on behalf of Honey’s IGA. The Center United Methodist Church Walking Trail, a gravel-covered walking trail near Newton, N.C.’s Center United Methodist Church, was created in 2005 as a part of a community-focused Eagle Scout project. According to Reverend Paula Northrup the idea was to provide an area where the entire community could walk, think and meditate.
"In the beginning the trail was a huge asset to our community,” Reverend Nothrup said. “Unfortunately, however, it has now fallen into disrepair. This donation from IGA will allow us to redesign the trail and make sure it provides a safe and enjoyable place for our community members to get the exercise they need to be fit and healthy. We’re so very grateful to Honey’s IGA and Center United Methodist Church member Keith Waters for answering our prayers and bringing this much needed help.”
